Icelandic 4

Objective
Review of basic grammar and word classes, with more complex grammar and exercises.

The emphasis is on talking: The student becomes capable of participating in discussions about
particular topics.

Topics
Main word classes and grammatical outlines of them (prepositions, adjectives, regular and irregular
verbs, nouns, adverbs) reviewed. Grammar focuses largely on how to use the grammatical cases in
Icelandic. In "nouns" the usage of dative and genitive cases will be explored, e.g. in relation to
movement and position along with subjunctive mood of "to be" and declension of interrogative
pronoun.

More complex texts will be looked at along with things like simple Icelandic crossword puzzles and
proverbs.

A few previously selected topics will be discussed, but also some topics that relate to interesting
contemporary events/conflicts.
